Globally, there are an estimated 9.5 million people living with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), and the incidence is increasing by 3-4% per year. Lower‑income regions face a disproportionate burden due to rising incidence and limited access to timely diagnosis.

India has almost one million people living with T1DM across all age groups, including around 250,000 children and adolescents. The management of T1DM in India is further complicated by late diagnosis, with 30-50% children presenting with diabetic ketoacidosis.

Physicians in India often struggle with managing T1DM, as many cases remain undiagnosed until complications arise. In addition, access to advanced diabetes technologies such as CGM and insulin pumps remains limited, creating major challenges in achieving optimal glycemic control.
